MARIE REED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

August 11, 2016

We are honored to partner with our second school, Marie Reed Elementary School in Adams Morgan! Marie Reed’s building will undergo a complete modernization over the 2016 - 2017 school year, and a “Legacy Walk” exhibit space will be installed in the main lobby of the school. Over the summer, we documented the original building, conducted preliminary research, and began our student/community member interviews. We are excited to see what the students uncover as they kick off the research class on October 11, 2016. We’ll post their progress on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook - stay tuned!

DC EDUCATION BUDGET HEARING

April 15, 2016

The Story of Our Schools testified last night at the DC Education Budget Hearing. We wanted to 1) update Council on our progress and 2) seed the idea that allotting an exhibit space in ALL modernization plans would be beneficial to the school and community. It’s always a pleasure to present and be a part of the testifying process!
